The $940 million Milton Ulladulla bypass has reached a new milestone, with significant Secretary Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) issued to Transport for NSW.
The project is being jointly funded with $752 million committed from the Federal Government and $188 million from the New South Wales Government.
The SEARs are a pivotal part of the planning process, providing Transport for NSW with specific instructions on what issues need to be addressed in the project’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) which forms a key part of the development application process.
Transport for NSW has recently awarded a contract to Aurecon Australasia Pty Ltd to carry out the concept design and environmental assessment for the bypass.
Now the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) has issued SEARs, this work will include preparing the EIS.
After years of delays the local Shoalhaven and wider south coast community is a step closer to seeing the project come to life. The project will cut congestion and reduce travel times while improving road safety and freight access.
