Construction contract awarded for Pitt Town bypass

Construction contract awarded for Pitt Town bypass

Work on the long-anticipated Pitt Town bypass is set to begin in the coming months, with a $100 million construction contract awarded to Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure.

The 950-metre bypass will link Pitt Town Road with Cattai Road, diverting traffic away from the village centre.

Key features include two new roundabouts, a bridge over Hortons Creek, and improved connections designed to ease congestion and improve safety in the growing north-west Sydney region.

More than 10,000 vehicles currently pass through Pitt Town each day, with traffic expected to rise by 40 per cent during peak hours in the coming years.

Once complete, the bypass is expected to reduce truck traffic through the town centre and shorten travel times between Windsor and Wisemans Ferry.

The project also aims to improve flood resilience in the area by enhancing traffic flow and supporting emergency evacuations when needed.

Key changes to the local road network include extending Pitt Town Road past Bathurst Street to Cattai Road, a new roundabout at Eldon Street and Old Pitt Town Road, and new bridge crossings of Hortons Creek.

The bypass is expected to open to traffic by late 2026.
