The contract has been awarded for the Ison Road Extension project, bringing the new link between Wyndham West and Princes Freeway a step closer.
Australian-owned Decmil has secured the contract to build the 1.3km, four-lane extension as Major Road Projects Victoria’s construction partner on the project.
The extension will connect with the Ison Road Overpass, which is currently under construction, to directly link Ison Road and the Geelong Road-Princes Freeway interchange in Werribee. Decmil is also the construction partner on the overpass project.
With construction of the extension set to begin in early 2025, drivers will be able to use the new link by the end of 2026.
The link will help enhance connectivity, improve safety and reduce congestion, particularly in central Werribee.
Once complete, it will cater for over 29,000 daily journeys by 2036 to help meet Wyndham West’s growing transport needs.
The link will also include walking and cycling paths to Geelong Road, boosting local active transport opportunities.
Wyndham City Council will fund the Ison Road Extension with a $60 million contribution from the Victorian Government’s Growth Area Infrastructure Contribution fund. The council will also contribute an additional $20 million.
Major Road Projects Victoria will deliver the project on behalf of the council.
